Fish and chips

In this recipe, I use an airfryer for the best results!

Ingredients

  • 3 x potatoes
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 x cod fillet
  • 1 dl plain white flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp red pepper powder
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 ½ dl panko
  • 1 x eggs
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 x pickles
  • 1 x shallots
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 pinch dill
  • 1 pinch parsley

Method

  1. Cut the potatoes into 1 cm thick sticks and soak them in water for 30 minutes to extract the starch.
  2. After 30 minutes, rinse the potatoes well and dry them in a kitchen towel.
  3. Preheat the airfryer to 190° C
  4. Turn the potatoes into oil and salt.
  5. Place the fries in the air fryer and cook at 190° for 18 minutes. (Some air fryers tell you when you should shake the fries, if not they should be shaken a couple of times during the cooking time.) *beep beep* and the fries are done!
  6. Let the cod fillets rest for a while on the kitchen counter so that they are tempered. Dry them a little with paper.
  7. Add the flour and spices in a bowl and mix. Add in a little salt and pepper along with the other spices. In another bowl, add panko. In a third bowl, whisk an egg, voila you have a "dipping station"!
  8. Preheat the airfryer to 205° C
  9. Dip the fish in flour mix - then egg - then panko. Pop them in the air fryer for 10 minutes at 205°C. *beep beep* And the fish is done!
  10. To make the tartar sauce, you finely chop the pickle, the shallot, a little bit of dill and a little bit parsley, otherwise just throw all the ingredients into a bowl and BAM the sauce is ready! Season with salt and pepper.
